Things to Eat, See and Do in Rincón

Rincon

With its laid-back attitude and leisurely pace, this surf town in Puerto Rico’s northwest corner is a favorite of both locals and tourists. Just a two hour drive from San Juan, Rincón is known for world-class waves, picture perfect sunsets, amazing eats and an uber chill vibe. Headed out west? Here are our top tips of what to eat, see and do in Puerto Rico’s Surf Capital.

Where to EAT

The English Rose: Nestled on top of a mountain, the restaurant inside this B&B serves the best brunch in town. Their creative take on brunch, delicious cocktails, fantastic service and the views are worth the visit. Reservations recommended!

Carta Buena: For a casual farm-to-table experience, head to Carta Buena. The menu changes based on season and much of the produce comes from the on-site farm. Roam the farm as you wait for your food to be prepared.

Jack’s Shack: Down by Maria’s Beach, you’ll find this food truck that serves up fresh, delicious, and healthy food. The portions are perfect for a small lunch to tide you over until dinner.  Definitely try their hot sauces – the pineapple was our favorite!

Estela: Chef Abel Mendoza combines local ingredients and flavors at this cozy restaurant off Route 115, creating a marvelous dining experience. Reservations recommended.

La Copa Llena: Located right on the beach, people have been enjoying the sunsets from La Copa Llena’s open-air deck since the 1970s. They serve cocktails, tapas, dinner, and the specials change seasonally.

Cafe 2 Go: A roadside spot to visit for breakfast and coffee! Great breakfast burritos, breakfast bowls, lattes and one of the best acai bowls in town. This place opens at 7 AM, which is tough to find in the area!

La Cambija: This is a great little place that’s a hit with locals and travelers! This casual, al fresco spot has  a great selection of fresh, local seafood. Make sure to pair your fish tacos with a mojito!  Pssttt… they have happy hour all day!

The Beach House: You can count on The Beach House for a clean, fresh, and organic market-driven menu with an insane view of the ocean. The best part? They’ve set up a row of chairs in front of the restaurant so you can enjoy Rincon’s famous sunsets while sipping on your drink of choice.

What to DO

Surfing Lessons Puerto Rico Rincón has been dubbed many times as a “surfer’s haven”, making it an excellent opportunity to learn how to surf! Instructor Ramses Morales’ thorough and encouraging lessons will have you riding the waves sooner than you think.

Bachman Pilates: Imagine enjoying a pilates class in the comfort of your vacation rental, hotel, or favorite Rincón beach! Bachman Pilates does just that, offering group and private pilates mat classes, as well as private reformer classes. They can come to you or schedule a class at their studio.

Art Walk: Every Thursday evening, the people come together at the town’s square and hold a small festival to enjoy local culture. Get ready to enjoy some handicrafts, live music, snacks and more!
Barefoot Yoga: Take some time for you and enjoy Rincon’s only private, beachfront yoga studio set below a beautiful canopy of trees. All levels of yoga practitioners are welcome.

Farmer’s Market: Sunday mornings at the Rincón Farmers Market adds even more charm this already enchanting place. You’ll feel right at home in the plaza where everyone knows everyone and loves to speak (in English or Spanish!) about their handmade and homegrown products.

Massage at Centro La Paz: Centro La Paz is a team of wellness-minded individuals helping locals and travelers alike find peace of mind. Make sure to schedule one of their relaxing massages! They also offer reiki, yoga and pilates.

Where to STAY

Tres Sirenas Beach Inn: Located directly in front of the ocean, Tres Sirenas is a full-service boutique B&B that offers travelers intimate lodging in a gorgeous villa. From delicious breakfasts to poolside cabanas and yoga on the veranda, it’s the perfect getaway with all of the details.

Ocaso Luxury Villas: Ocaso is a remodeled private & secluded villa, on top of one of the highest peaks Rincón! Meaning that it offers guests breathtaking panoramic views of miles of beach coast, as well as scenic mountainscapes while being just a 15-minute ride to the beach.
