La Campechada 2014 Art Festival in Old San Juan
This December 12th-14th the streets and plazas of Old San Juan will be transformed into a splendor of visual art and performance for La Campechada 2014. Drawing its name from Puerto Rico’s first recognized painter Jose Campeche, La Campechada is an annual interdisciplinary arts festival showcasing an array of artistic mediums. Visitors to Old San Juan will experience works of music, theatre, dance, visual art, film, and special exhibitions of the Institute of Culture’s appointed honoree.
Excitingly, this 4th installment of La Campechada will honor its first female artist – painter and printmaker Myrna Baez. Her tremendous body of work, which spans over 50 years, will be showcased at various locations throughout Old San Juan. Other artists and artistic companies will also pay homage to Baez within their own works.
Come revel in Puerto Rican art and culture this weekend for this incredible event, amidst the city’s oldest historic sites and some of our favorite bars and restaurants in Old San Juan.
