Cocina Abierta Opens in Condado
After four successful years in the town of Guaynabo, a suburb of San Juan, Cocina Abierta has relocated. Chef & owner Martín Louzao, has decided to move his popular restaurant to the trendy neighborhood of Condado, popular with tourists and locals, thanks to its beachfront hotels, high-end shops and numerous bars and restaurants. But he didn’t just move the restaurant he completely re-invented it. The contemporary and eclectic décor is a mélange of concrete walls, modern light fixtures, custom-made furniture and repurposed decorative pieces. Designed by Sylvia De Marco, the multi-layered space is one of the coolest in Puerto Rico. The menu is divided into five acts, allowing you to mix, match and create your ultimate tasting menu. Each dish is accompanied by three wine pairing suggestions. Choose from the ripe plantain carpaccio brûlée with tuna tatake, langoustines with squid ink risotto or the duck confit mofongo. There are also great vegetarian options such as the eggplant “mignon” with chickpeas, saffron cous cous, dates, pomegranate and pistachios.
Don’t skip on the cocktails! They are hand-crafted by expert mixologists who use local ingredients and top shelf liquors from the Worldclass Collection.
