It’s All in The Family at Acapulco Taquería
There are days when all you want is a damn good taco. And no, not that Tex-Mex stuff with sour cream, iceberg lettuce, mounds of sauce and dried chicken. The REAL deal! Tacos al pastor, cochinita pibil, barbacoa and lengua can all be found at Acapulco Taquería, a family run business on Calle Loíza.
Owned and operated by brothers Alessandro and Poncho and their sister Francesca, this is the place for tacos and authentic Mexican food in Puerto Rico. There is no lettuce or melted cheese and only homemade tortillas are served here. A huge chalkboard at the entrance asserts just that. Your tacos might be topped with pineapple, radish and fresh cilantro. Don’t forget to try one of the homemade hot sauces, our favorite is made from coconut, chipotle and chile de arbol. They call it ‘cocochipo’, catchy and fitting, we dig it. Pair your meal with a killer margarita or an agua fresca. Brunch is served on Sundays. Did somebody say huevos rancheros?
